Description

A rich and decadent chocolate fudge cake made effortlessly in a slow cooker, perfect for dessert lovers.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box chocolate fudge cake mix (about 15 ounces)
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 box chocolate pudding mix (4-serving size, about 4 ounces instant)
  • 2 cups cold milk
  • 1112 ounces milk chocolate chips (about 2 cups)

Instructions

  1. Spray the inside of a 6-quart slow cooker insert generously with non-stick cooking spray, coating bottom and sides completely.
  2. Add the chocolate fudge cake mix, milk, vegetable oil, and eggs to a large mixing bowl.
  3. Whisk or beat with an electric mixer until completely smooth with no lumps, about 1 to 2 minutes.
  4. Pour the cake batter into the prepared slow cooker insert and smooth the top into an even layer with a spatula.
  5. In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the chocolate pudding mix with cold milk for 1 to 2 minutes until the mixture thickens.
  6. Pour the thickened pudding mixture evenly over the cake batter in the slow cooker. Do not stir or mix the layers together.
  7. Sprinkle the milk chocolate chips evenly over the pudding layer. Do not stir.
  8. Fold a clean dish towel in half and place it directly on top of the slow cooker insert, then place the lid on top of the towel.
  9. Cook on Low for 3 hours to 3 hours 30 minutes, until the edges are set and firm but the center still has slight jiggle.
  10. Turn off the slow cooker and carefully remove the ceramic insert from the heating base. Set on a wire cooling rack or heat-safe surface.
  11. Remove the lid and towel. Let the cake stand uncovered for 30 minutes.
  12. Scoop portions into bowls, making sure to get both cake and molten sauce from underneath. Top with vanilla ice cream or ice cream of your choice and serve immediately.
