Description

A delicious and easy banana sauce that can be used as a topping or ingredient in various dishes.


Ingredients

  • 1 ripe banana
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 pinch ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch salt

Instructions

  1. Mash one ripe banana until smooth. You should have about 1/2 cup of mashed banana.
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter over medium heat.
  3. Stir in 1/2 cup of packed brown sugar and let it begin to dissolve and bubble.
  4. Add the mashed banana, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, and a pinch of nutmeg. Let it cook for 1-2 minutes.
  5. Pour in 1/2 cup of water, reduce the heat, and simmer for 5-6 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.
  7. Let cool slightly before using. Store in an airtight jar in the fridge for up to 5 days.
