Description

A delicious cherry trifle made with chocolate cake, cherry pie filling, and whipped cream.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups chocolate cake, cubed
  • 1 ½ cups cherry pie filling or jarred cherries
  • 2 cups whipped cream
  • ¼ cup chocolate shavings
  • 2 tablespoons cherry liqueur (optional)

Instructions

  1. Bake your chocolate cake if needed and let it cool. Cut into 1-inch cubes.
  2. Whip the cream until stiff peaks form, adding vanilla or sugar if desired.
  3. In a trifle dish, layer cake cubes, cherries with some juice, and whipped cream. Repeat the layers.
  4. Top with the final layer of whipped cream and garnish with chocolate shavings and whole cherries.
  5. Chill the trifle for at least 2 hours before serving.

Notes

  • This can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
  • For added flavor, you can infuse the whipped cream with vanilla or almond extract.
